After nearly five years of inactivity, the Quebec Immigrant Investor Program (QIIP) is set to return on January 1, 2024. This unique entirely passive immigration investment program among G7 countries is eagerly welcomed by those wishing to settle in Quebec.

A key advantage of the QIIP is that it requires no active investment nor business management, offering investors the security and predictability essential for obtaining Canadian permanent residency. The program requires a total investment of 1.2 million Canadian dollars, requested only after Quebec authorities have confirmed the candidate’s program eligibility. This sum includes a non-refundable contribution of 200,000 dollars and the purchase of a 5-year, 1 million dollar term note, guaranteed for repayment by the Quebec government. This unique guarantee provides an invaluable peace of mind to investors.

Upon fulfilling the financial criteria, applicants are granted an open work permit to establish themselves in Quebec. They must then meet the physical presence requirements in Quebec (12 months over a 24-month period, with up to 6 months covered by a spouse), in order to receive a Quebec Selection Certificate (CSQ) and apply for permanent residency through federal authorities.

The QIIP not only eases access to Canadian permanent residency but also offers candidates and their families special access to North American markets, along with the benefits of Canada’s globally acclaimed educational and healthcare systems.

Quebec, known for its political stability, safe quality of life, and superior healthcare and educational services, presents an ideal setting for business development and newcomer integration. With its regulated and transparent structure, the QIIP provides a secure and advantageous route for deriving these benefits.
